Summarize the information by selecting and reporting the main features, and make comparisons where relevant.

The map shows the introduction years of the world’s oldest constitutions that are still in effect as of 2024. The United States holds the oldest constitution, dating back to 1789, followed by Norway and the Netherlands, which introduced their constitutions in 1814. San Marino’s constitutional framework dates from 1600, although it is partially written.
In Europe, several countries have long-standing constitutions. Belgium’s was adopted in 1831, while Luxembourg followed in 1868. The United Kingdom’s constitutional framework is based on the Magna Carta, established in 1215, though only two articles are still legally binding. Meanwhile, Argentina’s constitution from 1853 remains in effect in South America.
In the Asia-Pacific region, Tonga’s constitution has been in place since 1875. New Zealand and Australia introduced theirs later, in 1852 and 1901, respectively. The chart shows that Canada’s current constitution has been effective since 1867.
