Ielts GT Writing Task 1 Sample 133
You recently received a gift from a friend that you were not satisfied with. Write a letter to your friend thanking them for the gift. Include:
- Offer appreciation for their thoughtfulness.
- Explaining politely why it doesn’t suit your needs or preferences.
- Suggest an alternative use or exchange for the gift.
Dear Daniel,
I hope this letter finds you well. I wanted to take a moment to express my sincere gratitude for the thoughtful gift you recently sent me. Your kindness and generosity never fail to warm my heart, and I truly appreciate the effort you put into selecting something special for me.
While I am incredibly grateful for your gesture, I must admit that the gift doesn’t quite align with my needs or preferences. Please understand that this has nothing to do with the thoughtfulness behind the gift itself, but rather my personal taste and requirements.
However, I have been thinking about how I could make use of it in a different way. Alternatively, if you still have the receipt or if it’s possible, I would like to explore the option of exchanging it for something that better suits my needs. I hope you understand my perspective and know that my intention is to find a solution that ensures your thoughtful gesture does not go to waste.
Once again, thank you for your kindness and for thinking of me. Your friendship means the world to me, and I am grateful to have you in my life.
Warm regards,
Nancy Terry
