The image presents a comparative analysis of the revenue impact of local businesses and national chains on the economy of Salt Lake City. It focuses on how much revenue, from both retailers and restaurants, is returned to the local economy by these two types of establishments.

For retailers, local businesses contribute significantly more to the local economy, with 52% of their revenue being reinvested locally. In contrast, national chains return only 14% of their revenue to the same economy. This highlights a substantial difference in local value generation between the two.

The disparity is even more pronounced in the restaurant sector. Local restaurants return 79% of their revenue to the local economy, far surpassing national chains, which only contribute 30%. This suggests that locally owned restaurants have a much stronger economic impact on the community compared to their national counterparts.
