The bar chart illustrates the distribution of male and female teachers across six different levels of educational institutions in England in 2010.
By taking a general overview it is evident that there was a higher representation of female teachers in lower grades, while the number of male teachers increased at higher levels. However, at the college level, both genders were equally represented.
Examining the specifics, it can be observed that in universities and private training institutes, the percentage of male teachers slightly exceeded that of female teachers. For instance, more than 65 out of 100 teachers in universities were male, while in colleges, the proportion was around 60 percent. In colleges, the ratio of male to female teachers was equal, but in secondary schools, the number of female teachers slightly surpassed that of male teachers.
Interestingly, a significantly higher number of female teachers were employed in nursery and elementary schools compared to their male counterparts. For instance, in pre-school levels, there were nine female teachers for every ten teachers. Female teachers were more prevalent in lower grades, while male teachers were more common at higher levels. However, the college level exhibited an equal distribution of male and female teachers.
