The gross domestic product (GDP) produced by the UK’s IT and service industries between 1992 and 2000 is shown in the bar chart. Percentages are used to measure it. All things considered, it is evident that both grew as a share of GDP, but IT did so at a faster rate.

In 1992, when the period first began, the Service Industry made up 4% of GDP, while IT made up somewhat more than 6%. The levels stabilized during the next four years, with both components falling between 6 and slightly over 8 percent. Overall, it remained greater even if it decreased somewhat from 1994 and 1996.

But over the next four years, there was a noticeable difference in the patterns of the two components. The IT sector’s share of GDP rose dramatically, from 12 in 1998 to over 15 in 2000, while the service sector’s share of GDP increased to just 8%.

Overall, IT accounted for nearly twice as much GDP as the service industry at the end of the period.
