The data illustrates levels of distrust in mainstream media across various countries in 2024, measured as the percentage of respondents who do not trust media outlets in their country of residence.

The United States and France demonstrate the highest levels of media distrust, both at 20%, followed closely by Spain at 19%. Great Britain, India, and South Korea share an identical distrust rate of 17%, positioning them in the middle range of the analyzed countries.

Germany and Brazil exhibit moderate levels of distrust at 15% and 14% respectively, while Switzerland shows a lower rate at 13%. The data reveals that South Africa (11%) and China (9%) maintain the lowest levels of media distrust among the surveyed nations.

The disparity between the highest and lowest rates spans 11 percentage points, with China’s media distrust level being less than half that of the United States and France. This variation suggests significant differences in public perception of mainstream media credibility across these nations.
