Ielts GT Writing Task 1 Sample 40

Write a letter to a family member who lives abroad, sharing your recent experiences and news. Include:

  • Updates on your personal life, work, or studies.
  • Events or activities you’ve enjoyed recently.
  • Questions about their life abroad and their plans to visit.

Dear Margaret,

I hope this letter finds you well and thriving in your corner of the world. It’s been a while since we caught up, and I wanted to share some of the recent happenings in my life and hear about yours.

On the personal front, things have been quite eventful. I recently started a new job at Oakworks LLC, and I must say, it’s been a whirlwind of learning and challenges. The team is fantastic, and I’m enjoying the new responsibilities and opportunities it brings. Work keeps me occupied, but it’s also been incredibly rewarding.

In terms of leisure, I’ve been exploring some new hobbies. I took up hiking a few months ago and have fallen in love with it. The fresh air, scenic views, and the sense of accomplishment at the summit are invigorating. I’d love to hear about any exciting activities or hobbies you’ve picked up abroad.

Speaking of which, how has life been treating you in Europe? I’m genuinely curious about your experiences, the people you’ve met, and the places you’ve visited. Any memorable stories you’d like to share? Also, I can’t help but wonder if there’s a chance you might visit us here soon. We miss you dearly and would love to have you with us, even if it’s just for a short visit.

Please drop me a line when you can, and let’s catch up properly. It’s been too long, and I’d love to hear your voice and share more stories.

Take care, stay safe, and I’m looking forward to your reply.

Yours truly,

James
