Ielts GT Writing Task 1 Sample 69

You frequently use public transport in your city and have encountered recurring problems. Write a letter to the transportation authority:

  • Describe the issues you have experienced, such as delays, overcrowding, or cleanliness concerns.
  • Explain how these issues have affected your daily commute and productivity.
  • Suggest specific improvements or solutions to enhance the efficiency and quality of public transport services.

Dear Sir,

I hope this letter finds you well. I am writing to bring to your attention some recurring issues that I have encountered while using public transport in our city.

Firstly, delays in bus and train services have become a common occurrence, especially during peak hours. This not only leads to frustration among commuters but also disrupts schedules and causes unnecessary stress. Additionally, overcrowding on certain routes has become a significant concern, making it difficult for passengers to board and alight comfortably.

Furthermore, cleanliness standards on some public transport vehicles have noticeably declined. There is often litter and debris left behind by passengers, which creates an unpleasant and unhygienic environment. This not only affects the overall experience of commuters but also reflects poorly on the image of our city’s public transport system.

These issues have had a significant impact on my daily commute and productivity. The delays have made it challenging to arrive at work or appointments on time, resulting in stress and anxiety. The overcrowding on buses and trains has made the journey uncomfortable and sometimes unsafe, especially during the current pandemic situation. Moreover, the lack of cleanliness on vehicles has made the commuting experience less pleasant and more stressful.

To enhance the efficiency and quality of our city’s public transport services, I suggest implementing a more frequent and reliable bus and train schedule during peak hours to reduce delays and overcrowding. Additionally, increasing the number of vehicles on high-demand routes can better accommodate the growing commuter population. Lastly, enhancing cleanliness protocols through regular vehicle cleaning, disinfection, and installing more waste bins can promote a cleaner and more pleasant commuting experience.

Introducing digital platforms or apps to provide real-time updates on bus and train schedules, allowing commuters to plan their journeys more effectively.

I believe that these improvements will not only benefit commuters by providing a more efficient and comfortable travel experience but also contribute to the overall image and reputation of our city’s public transport system.

Thank you for considering these suggestions. I look forward to seeing positive changes that will enhance the commuting experience for all residents.

Sincerely,

Mathew
