Ielts GT Writing Task 1 Sample 73

You have recently missed a project deadline which resulted in your company losing an important client. Write a letter to your manager. In your letter

  • Apologize for what happened
  • Explain why you missed the deadline
  • Tell him/her how you will avoid this situation in future.

Dear Sir,

I am writing to sincerely apologize for the recent incident regarding the missed project deadline, which unfortunately led to the loss of an important client for our company. I take full responsibility for this situation and deeply regret the impact it has had on our organization.

The reason for missing the deadline was a combination of unforeseen circumstances and poor time management on my part. Firstly, I encountered unexpected technical difficulties during the implementation phase, which required additional troubleshooting and resolution. This, coupled with an underestimation of the time required to complete certain tasks, caused significant delays in the project timeline.

To prevent a recurrence of such an unfortunate incident, I have taken immediate action to address the underlying issues. Firstly, I have thoroughly reviewed and revised my project planning and scheduling approach to ensure more accurate estimation of task durations and potential roadblocks. I will also be more proactive in seeking assistance and guidance from the team members and relevant stakeholders whenever faced with complex challenges to minimize any potential delays.

I understand the gravity of the situation and the impact it has had on our company’s reputation and bottom line. I assure you that I am fully dedicated to rectifying my mistakes and restoring the trust and confidence you have placed in me. I am determined to regain the lost client’s confidence by delivering outstanding results on future projects and consistently meeting deadlines.

I appreciate the opportunity to learn and grow from this experience, and I am committed to continuously improving my skills and performance.

Yours faithfully,

Anna Marie
